Army Logistics Command Issues Press Statement to Clarify the Media Report on “Department of Environmental Protection Levies Heavy Fine on Military Oil Leakage in Keelung Harbor”

Regarding the media report on “Department of Environmental Protection Levies Heavy Fine on Military Oil Leakage in Keelung Harbor”, the Army Logistics Command expressed today (6th) that, starting from December 1st, the military has actively cooperated with the relevant authorities of Keelung City Government to conduct oil reclamation operations in the pipelines and box culverts to handle the oil pollution in Hsu-Chuan River. As for the fine for environmental pollution, the military shall comply with the relevant environmental protection regulations.

The Army Logistics Command indicated that, regarding the removal of old abandoned pipeline, subsequent operations will be conducted in conjunction with the overall planning of the Keelung Harbor Expansion Project and budgets will be allocated for the removal of the old pipelines to address the concerns of the public.
